Recipe: Baileys Affogato

Affogato is an Italian dessert and drink in one. Affogato is a scoop of ice cream topped with a shot of espresso. But hey, you know what’s even better? Affogato with a generous splash of Baileys. Surely you can’t say no to that?

So, you make this affogato with espresso, vanilla ice cream, Baileys and cake, although the latter isn’t essential. If you don’t have a piece of leftover cake, you can also buy Italian Amaretti cookies to dip into the Affogato.

How to make the Affogato

• Make two cups of espresso and pour in the Baileys.
• Place the piece of cake, if using, in a glass and scoop a ball of vanilla ice cream on top.
• Pour the Baileys and coffee over the ice cream. As a finishing touch, you can also grate some chocolate over it.
