Sensational news: the Chicken Sensation is back at McDonald’s
It’s the discontinued burger we all wanted back on the menu at McDonald’s more than anything in the world: the Chicken Sensation. And today, on what seemed like an ordinary Monday in January, the day has finally arrived. Our prayers have been answered. The Chicken Sensation can be ordered at the Mac again. What a sensational start to the new year!
We missed the Chicken Sensation so much that we recently shared the recipe for the burger with you. That way, you could at least ease the longing a little and make the sandwich at home yourselves. Now, finally, you can order the Chicken Sensation in all its glory again at your favourite McDonald’s location.
Finally back at McDonald’s: the Chicken Sensation
The Chicken Sensation was a firm favourite among McDonald’s customers until 2016. Until 2016, yes, because that year the fast-food chain decided, on a dark day, to remove the burger from the menu. The Chicken Sensation was sorely missed throughout all those years. Why? Because it’s simply an insanely delicious burger. The toasted sesame bun, crispy chicken, honey mustard sauce, tomato and red onion come together to create an unbeatable flavour combination. (Speaking of that honey mustard sauce: could you release it in a bottle, McDonald’s? Just like you did with your fries sauce? Please?)
In mid-November 2024, McDonald’s already posted a teaser on Instagram. ”If we get enough likes, we’ll bring back the Chicken Sensation,” the message read. That post exploded. It received nearly 40,000 likes and well over 1,000 comments. ”Can I like this 1 million times?????”, ”I’ll even chip in money!!!!!!” (according to Snackspert) and ”Am I still dreaming?! 😍” were among the responses. We’re not dreaming. As of today, 7 January 2025, the Chicken Sensation is back on the McDonald’s menu! A small sidenote: the burger will be available for 10 weeks from today. So it’s not a permanent comeback. Shall we just go to the Mac every day for 10 weeks?
Run to the Mac
My dream as a McDonald’s fan came true last week: I got to make the Chicken Sensation in the kitchen of a McDonald’s location, and was also one of the first to take a bite of the sandwich. And well… Homemade, it tastes just a tiny bit better, if that was even possible. We’re lucky to experience this: the return of the Chicken Sensation. Did you make it to the end of this post?
