Sergio Herman is on a roll: ready-made Martini cocktail bearing his name

Anyone who thought star chef Sergio Herman would take it easy after selling his stake in restaurant The Jane: think again! He’s been busy with mussels, has opened a new restaurant and still has a Frites Atelier. And now: together with Martini, he has developed a cocktail that you no longer need to shake or stir, but can simply pour into a glass.

Everyone knows that Sergio Herman loves Italian cuisine. This year, he published a cookbook with recipes based on Italian flavors and aromas, in a style he calls ‘New Italian’. New or old, does it matter? Dolce vita simply calls for a delicious Martini now and then, and Sergio has put his own twist on it too.
The Martini Spritzante has fresh flavors of grapefruit and basil with a hint of vanilla and a subtle bitter note. Best of all: it’s ready-made, so you can simply pour it into a nice glass, and you’re done.
Wine glass, ice, basil leaf
To develop the cocktail, Sergio didn’t just mess around in his own kitchen with Martini and whatever else happened to be in the fridge. He worked together with Martini’s master blender. ‘Being able to contribute to the rich oeuvre of this top brand makes me incredibly proud,’ says the star chef. Sergio’s tip: don’t pour that Spritzante into a lemonade glass, but serve it in a wine glass or a whisky glass filled with ice. Pour the chilled Spritzante over it and garnish with a wedge of grapefruit and a basil leaf.

Hurry, hurry
Fancy one? Hurry to Le Pristine in Antwerp, because it’s on the menu there. And if you want to enjoy drinks at star-chef level at home too, head to Jumbo, where the Martini will also be available in a limited edition from November. For 12.49 euros, you can already take home a bottle.
