Shell and Old Amsterdam join forces: delicious cheese sandwiches for the road
On the road and hungry? Good news for fans of Old Amsterdam cheese. Shell and Old Amsterdam are joining forces and introducing an all-new range at Shell Café locations. Forget that soggy egg-salad sandwich or a meatball the size of a beach ball and sink your teeth into a Bagel Old Amsterdam or a Cheeseburger Old Amsterdam.
Shell often surprises us with its range, including through collaborations with star chefs. Previously, for example, you could buy snacks from star chef Soenil Bahadoer at Shell and a tuna sandwich from star chef Margo Reuten. This time, Shell is introducing a new range in collaboration with Old Amsterdam.
The three new Old Amsterdam specials at Shell
From today through January 27, 2026, the following Old Amsterdam snacks are available at all 105 Shell Café locations in the Netherlands:
1. Bagel Old Amsterdam (€6.50)
A freshly made bagel with Old Amsterdam cheese, lettuce and dressing. Perfect for the road or as a quick lunch stop.
2. Cheeseburger Old Amsterdam (€6.75)
A freshly prepared burger with a slice of Old Amsterdam cheese.
3. Wrap Old Amsterdam Pesto (€4.95)
Found in the chilled section, this wrap comes with Old Amsterdam cheese, pesto and fresh vegetables. We once put the cheese spread with pesto to the test and thought it was ‘meh’, but perhaps this will become your new snack to go?
Our favorite Old Amsterdam snacks
We love cheese, but some products are bigger hits than others. As far as we’re concerned, the Kaastengels from Topking with Old Amsterdam are simply the tastiest of all, and the Old Amsterdam bitterballen from Kwekkeboom are also a standard fixture in our freezer.
Less successful: the Old Amsterdam cheeseburger was a bit disappointing, and as mentioned, we also found the cheese spread with pesto underwhelming. But Old Amsterdam on a bagel or burger? We can already picture ourselves at the gas station with one of those sandwiches in hand.
