Snackspert: ‘It’s a fact: the further south you go, the better the snack bars get’

Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, known in mayonnaise as Eke Bosman, tells you where to get the best snacks. From north to south and east to west, Snackspert is effortlessly (devouring) his way from shoarma roll to lihanboutje. This week’s highlight: the ‘twijfelaar’ from the south of the country, because: ‘It’s a fact: the further south you go, the better the snack bars get,’ says Snackspert.

The ‘van alles wa’
It’s a fact: the further south you go, the better the snack bars get. That doesn’t mean that the further north you go, the worse the cafeterias are, because Leeuwarden and Groningen naturally have a number of top snack bars. The selection at Friture Martin Zwerts in Eindhoven is truly incredible, and I really couldn’t choose. So I went for fries with the ‘van alles wa’ instead—genius! Also known as the twijfelaar. By the way, I think more places should offer a number of snacks on a stick. Here you get the pikanto, berehap, hete donder and mexicano on a stick, and I can tell you, sticks have been in my mouth that were less tasty. Although the four snacks are fairly similar to one another and therefore don’t really vary in flavour, they are genuinely delicious. Nice and spicy, nicely deep-fried, simply excellent. The fries are excellent too, although people say that the quality has declined a little since the recent takeover; still, you’ll find better fries in very few other places. In other words: Martin Zwerts is still a top establishment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ½
