If BuzzFeed were to make a list called ‘These are the best expectation vs. reality examples’, then I am 99% certain that this salami, cheese and basil toastie from Jumbo would make the top five. What a meagre toastie, honestly, even though it only cost 1 euro. But still. Very little salami, decent basil sauce (I have to admit that, sorry) and then cheese that looks more like cheddar than proper regular cheese. Because seriously: cheddar combined with salami? That’s like spreading herb butter on your chocolate sprinkles sandwich, super gross, man. I wouldn’t get into a police car to put out a fire either, would I? It simply doesn’t make sense, and it doesn’t taste like anything either. No, this is one big disappointment, such a shame. ⭐️

Domino’s Pizza Extreme Cheese
What has more cheese than cheese? Lots of cheese. It can be that simple, and that’s what Domino’s must have thought too. They often say ‘sex sells’, but I’ve noticed that ‘cheese sells’ works for me too, because what is more exciting than the sight of melted cheese? That was a rhetorical question, by the way, so please don’t come up with really disgusting examples in the comments; I’m just trying to make a point. But by now it should be clear that Domino’s Pizza Extreme Cheese got me all hot and bothered. The real hero(ine) orders it 40 centimetres large, because then you get a kilo of cheese on top of your pizza. But since I have a modicum of respect for my stomach, I went for the regular version. It was tasty, deliciously cheesy (NO KIDDING), but with cheese sauce, mozzarella and Emmental, I expected more variety in the cheese flavours. Something like quattro formaggi, you know? After a while, the flavour actually became a little monotonous. And it would have been even more delicious if the crust had also been completely covered in that melted cheese, so that there was nothing else to do but wash your hands 67 times because they were completely covered in melted cheese. Anyway, decent pizza, a little monotonous, but there is cheese. ChEEEEEESE. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

De Vegetarische Slager’s Bofkipburger
You’ve probably noticed lately that I haven’t been veeeeery enthusiastic about supermarket burgers, but let me put things into perspective: that AH Excellent Ultimate Smokey Burger is, for example, an ex-cel-lent burger (which you can also cook deliciously), so they do exist! It’s just that they’re scarce (apart from the Beyond, of course). And especially for our vegetarian and vegan friends, in my opinion most of them are simply too dry. But don’t panic, because recently I ate one that did meet the requirements: De Vegetarische Slager’s Bofkipburger! Now I have to be honest and say that this brand has become a bit of the Bayern Munich of the vegetarian products league, because everything they make is a winner. The Bofkipburger is lovely and tender, and nice and thin too (just put two on top of each other, with cheddar in between, yum). It doesn’t quite have THE flavour that makes you think you want to eat it naked, but it is definitely heading in the right direction. Although let’s be honest, a naked burger (I don’t mean someone who is bald, but a hamburger eaten without anything on it) has never been tastier than a burger with toppings, right? That’s true too. Make the most of it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
