‘Delicious crispy Surinamese snack filled with roti and chicken’, according to Duca. But wait a minute. A roti roll spring roll? Made in China? According to an authentic Surinamese recipe? I had to blink a few times. But it’s really true. A spring roll filled with Surinamese roti.
Chaos cooking: a trend
Such a crazy roti roll spring roll fits perfectly into the chaos cooking trend. Unrestrained seems to be the keyword; as long as it tastes good, anything goes. In this context, we had already come across the roti panini earlier—long before the chaos cooking trend.

How does it taste?
Why be snobbish about food? It comes from the deep fryer, so it could hardly go wrong, right? Snackspert gave the deep-fried roti roll 3.5 stars (out of a maximum of 5). ‘Simply delicious, really, not bad at all. Handmade is always much better (and bigger)’, was his verdict.
