Alexa saw her father cooking and thought: the rest of the world should see this too! Not surprising, because her father is world-famous chef Massimo Bottura. The entire Bottura family is stuck at home and now makes the livestream Instagram Kitchen Quaratine every day. Tune in!

Massimo Bottura, where do we know him from again? Oh right, he was one of the stars of the Netflix series Chef’s Table, he earned three Michelin stars at his Osteria Francescana and wrote the cookbook Bread is Gold.

A few years ago, Massimo and his wife Lara founded the Food for Soul foundation, an organization that aims to make healthy food accessible to everyone. At Expo 2015 in Milan, it began with a so-called refettorio, a kind of soup kitchen where he turned surplus food into inexpensive meals, so that people with little money could eat well too. It was a success, and today there are refettorios in Milan, Rio de Janeiro, London and Paris. Massimo also rescued broken Parmesan cheeses after the earthquake in Italy in 2012. That’s why his fans call him: Robin Food.

Always wash your hands!

Now everyone can watch the star chef’s every move. Alexa films her father as he explains how to make a Thai vegetable curry (with olive oil, because he is and always will be Italian), tortellini in panna and salad with homemade mayonnaise. In between cooking, Massimo explains why he chooses a particular ingredient, how to cut something and jokes around with his wife and children. It feels just as if you’re sitting in their kitchen, and tonight at 8:00 p.m. you can join them again! The chef is strict, though: every cooking video begins with ‘wash your hands’. Super important in the kitchen, and super important with such a nasty virus in the world.
