Supermarket chain Jumbo launches heartwarming initiative: workshop to make Kletsboeketten

Supermarket chain Jumbo is launching a very heartwarming initiative. During the Week Against Loneliness (from September 26 through October 2, 2024), various Jumbo stores throughout the Netherlands are organizing workshops to make Kletsboeketten.

When I do my grocery shopping, I prefer to get it over with as quickly as possible. But this is not the case for (especially) older people. For them, grocery shopping is also a social activity. The (local) supermarket is the perfect place for a chat. A chat with the cashier, with people from the neighborhood; it is a welcome distraction from loneliness.

But apparently, loneliness is a bigger problem than we think. That is why there is a special week dedicated to raising awareness of it. Jumbo is responding to the Week Against Loneliness with a fun workshop to make Kletsboeketten. I think this is a very nice idea and believe it will really catch on.
In addition to the workshops where customers can make the so-called Kletsboeketten together, Jumbo is also offering the popular Kletsboeketten in all its stores. You can also attach a free conversation card to them for people who could use a chat. If you have Jumbo Extra’s points, the Kletsboeket itself is free as well.
