The tastiest cheese fondues to make at home

kaasfondue

Cheese fondue? Delicious! And if you ask me, the ultimate winter dish to eat all year round. And not difficult to make at all, even though it feels like a very special (and comforting) dinner. But you do need to have a good recipe. And luckily, I have one for you.

The tastiest cheese fondue recipes

1. Traditional cheese fondue with Appenzeller®
Sometimes less really is more, and I definitely think that’s the case with cheese fondue; the traditional version will always remain my favorite, and you can never go wrong with it. Especially because you have countless options for dipping ingredients here: from baguette to cauliflower, but I also think cured meats are delicious with it. It’s a mix of three cheeses (Emmentaler, Gruyère and Appenzeller), but you can always give it your own twist by adding blue cheese too — or truffle cheese, for example.

2. Cheese fondue with Parmesan
It may sound a little strange, but it’s seriously incredibly good; and because you add cream, the cheese flavor isn’t too overpowering either, which was my concern with this cheese fondue. And what I love about this Parmesan version is that you can turn it into a full Italian-themed evening; some beautiful olives, a good charcuterie board, that sort of thing. And just like that, you have a completely different cheese fondue than you’re used to.

3. Cheese fondue with truffle
Yesss, of course this one belongs on the list too! You could seriously wake me up in the middle of the night for cheese fondue with truffle. Admittedly, I always like this version best when you combine it with the traditional one — so you can switch to another pot if it all becomes a little too truffle-heavy for you. The secret to this recipe is in the ingredients: no messing around with truffle oil or truffle flavoring, but real truffle. And of course you can taste that immediately; this is the most luxurious cheese fondue there is.

BONUS: Mont d’Or from the oven
All together now: Girl dinneeeeer, girl, girl dinneeeeer. Yes, this absolutely falls into that category because you only need one thing: a Mont d’Or cheese, which you just put in the oven for a little while and then you’re done. So delicious, and also ideal as a snack with drinks; it’s something different from a piece of Camembert. It looks much more spectacular but is just as easy!
