These are 6 wildly popular Oreo flavors: how many have you tried?
There’s no shortage of Oreo inspiration here on FavorFlav, right? If you’re also a fan of the iconic cookie (which has been around since 1912!), you can indulge here in recipes with Oreos. And if you fancy something other than the original chocolate and cream variety for once, these are 6 very popular alternative flavors.
Sometimes you might want to bake with Oreos, sometimes you want an Oreo ice cream cake, but sometimes nothing beats devouring a few of those cookies themselves – preferably dipped in a glass of milk. Plant-based milk, perhaps? Sure! Oreos are vegan too, did you know? At least, the ‘originals’ are made without animal products, but Oreo’s website only says they are vegetarian because it cannot be ruled out that traces of other dairy products could end up in the cookies at the factory. Either way, they remain fantastic cookies, and if you’re feeling adventurous, try hunting down these varieties too:
Oreo Chocolate Hazelnut
These chocolate-hazelnut Oreos are basically a Nutella-in-your-favorite-cookie dream come true, aren’t they? And hey, if you can’t find them in a store nearby or don’t want to order them online, nothing is stopping you from licking the filling out of a regular Oreo and spreading it with Nutella before eating it. Double the fun.
Oreo Raspberry Vanilla
You can find these raspberry-vanilla Oreos at Albert Heijn. This variety may disappear again, so if you feel the urge coming on, get them while you can!
Oreo Golden
If you’re a fan of the concept but not necessarily of chocolate (who are you people?), there are also Oreo Golden cookies. The same cream filling, but with plain biscuits instead of the chocolate variety. Cute!
Oreo Caramel Vanilla
Another winner for true sweet-tooths: caramel-vanilla Oreos. The cookie stays the same, while the two flavors are combined in the filling. Rather than dipping these in a glass of milk, I think they’d be delicious dipped in a seriously strong espresso…
Oreo Caramel Coconut
We’re staying in caramel territory for a little longer, but with a tropical twist: caramel with coconut. Yes! I want these now. Probably not available in many stores in the Netherlands, but you can order them online.
Oreo Java Chip
No Indonesian savory chips to be found in these Oreos: Americans often use ‘java’ to mean coffee, and the chips are chocolate chips. These sound delicious, with coffee-flavored cream filling and small pieces of chocolate.
Oreos around the world
Do you ever visit one of those amazing international supermarkets in the Netherlands? Then always take a look in the cookie aisle to see whether they have any interesting alternative flavors in stock. And if you’re taking a faraway trip, it’s always worth checking out the local shops to see which exciting varieties of your favorite brands you can find there. In Japan and China, you might even come across Green Tea Oreos – surely you’d want to try those right away?
