These are the best-selling alcohol-free beers in the hospitality industry
FavorFlav’s Wieke already wrote it: alcohol-free beers in the hospitality industry are getting better and better and the choice is often extensive. So you can easily spend an evening behind a few bowls of bitterballen (vegetarian or not) and order one beer after another without falling off your bar stool. Win-win, right?!
It makes perfect sense, then, that a study was conducted into which alcohol-free beers are most popular in the hospitality industry. And guess what?
Straightforward
‘Just’ 0.0 pils tops the list of the best-selling types of alcohol-free beer. But sales are also rising for other 0.0 beers and related varieties. And interestingly, restaurants score highest when it comes to 0.0 sales. Of course, it’s also great to enjoy an extensive meal with all the trimmings while you may have to drive home, and for the restaurant to respond well to that with a good alcohol-free selection of drinks.
Top-notch top five
And are you curious about the rest of the top 5 best-selling types of alcohol-free beer in the hospitality industry? At numbers 2–5 are, respectively, Radler, blonde beer, Weizen and IPA (the 0.0 versions, that is). Alcohol-free beer turns out to be more popular outside cities than in cities, though that may also be because within a city it’s easier to hop on your bike and cycle home.
A refreshingly sober story
The study into the most-ordered alcohol-free beers in the hospitality industry was commissioned by hospitality trade magazine Misset Horeca and conducted by the company Tapp, which collects till data and can draw conclusions from it. Tapp can thus see precisely that the share of the best-selling 0.0 beers is 32.8 percent for pils, 23.8 percent for Radler, 15.5 percent for blonde beer, 13.8 percent for Weizen and 6 percent for IPA. And figures like these make me thirsty. No problem, because my fridge contains a beautiful collection of alcohol-free beers – cheers!
