This Michelin cruise will make you want to go on a river cruise

Ah, mon Dieu! Did you think going on a cruise means having to queue every morning for gummy scrambled eggs and every evening for big trays of soggy nasi? Wrong. It can also be completely different: this incredible river cruise through French Burgundy takes you from one Michelin-starred restaurant to the next.

The self-proclaimed 12-star cruise (because that’s how many stars you will have eaten in total by the end) takes you in six days from Saint-Jean-de-Losne (below Dijon) southwards to Lyon.
Kick-off
Your first meal? Boom, a two-star lunch at La Côte Saint-Jacques, famous for its lobster salad and parfait of egg with truffle and Puy lentils. You then slowly roll back onto the boat for champagne, cocktails and dinner (for those who still can, because by now we all know that Michelin-starred restaurants put your buttonholes to the test).
Stunning
And so the little boat chugs peacefully onward, while along the way you visit a château here and there, along with vineyards, monasteries and churches. Surrounding you are the gently rolling, dark green hills of magnificent Burgundy, the source of an almost unfathomable amount of deliciousness. Yes, that makes a person hungry…
Grande Finale
That hunger will be satisfied every day at a different Michelin-starred restaurant, ultimately ending this mind-blowing trip after six days in Lyon at [drumroll] Restaurant Paul Bocuse. Yep, the one and only. There’s a good chance you’ll then live on chickpeas and water for a while to give your wallet and liver time to recover, but at least you’ll be able to say that you experienced the most gastro-motivated boat trip in the history of boat trips!
