This Seaweed Sauce is one you’ll want at home

Thank goodness we’re allowed to go out again, as far as the hospitality industry is concerned! But have you also cooked, baked, stacked and snacked more at home over the past six months than ever before, always looking for ways to jazz up your lunch or dinner? We have. And we can wholeheartedly say that we find the creativity of all hospitality entrepreneurs—and everything they made possible for us at home— incredibly cool and inspiring. For example: Seaweed Sauce for home. Go get it!

You’ve got ravigote, you’ve got (homemade!) mayonnaise, you’ve got Secret Sauce and plenty more, but this really is a winner too, guys. And honestly: the possibilities—in other words, all the things you can pour this sauce over—are endless!
Balls and burgers
The first time I was served it was with a huge platter of (vegetarian) bitterballen, after which I immediately chased after the host to find out exactly what this delicious stuff was. Well, he explained (being Mark Kulsdom, co-founder of The Dutch Weedburger), this is the sauce from that famous seaweed burger. Ahaaaa, our eyes lit up as we fantasized about all the things we wanted to spread this on and serve it alongside at home…
Everyone’s happy
The fun thing is that this top-notch sauce is completely plant-based too. So there’s no chicken (egg) or cow (yogurt) involved, yet it’s a deliciously creamy and fresh sauce. At home, there was no stopping us: for example, it went with the (super-tender!) chicken breast alongside a salad of spelt grains, pomegranate, fennel and kidney beans. That chicken breast may not have been exactly what the vegan creators had in mind, but I think they’re happy that at least the rest was completely on point! The kids also love it, as was proven again with yesterday’s vegetables-potatoes-meat (or vegetarian) dinner, and I could already see my husband eyeing it when a possible barbecue sometime soon was mentioned. In short: this really is a crowd-pleaser.

Special Sauce
So whether you eat plant-based or not, everyone could use this bottle in their life. Spread it on your fried chicken sandwich, in your healthy cashew crunch salad, on your hardcore hamburger or dip your eggplant fries in it. All winners. And want the whole shebang? Then the sauce is naturally also included in the Dutch Weedburger home meal kits! For now, you can only buy the sauce separately at café De Ceuvel in Amsterdam, but if we do that often enough, it’ll surely become more widely available. Yum!
