This secret ingredient will give you the juiciest chicken thighs

You could have come up with the most amazing chicken dish (Indian chicken! Garlic chicken! Spicy chicken satay!)… But if your chicken is dry, you might as well not eat it. Who wants to put a dry, tough piece of cardboard in their mouth? So we’re always quick to jump at tips for juicy chicken. For example, when we discovered the secret ingredient for the juiciest chicken thighs ever.

I’ll admit it: I had to think for a moment about whether I even had this ingredient in my pantry. I didn’t, so a trip to the local supermarket was required. At least I have it at home in bulk now. Because believe me, I don’t want my chicken thighs any other way anymore. Besides making them extremely juicy, it also makes them incredibly delicious.
The chicken and the onion
What am I talking about? Onion soup mix. Yes, really. The kind that comes in a packet. Normally, we like to make and put everything together ourselves, but for the juiciest and most flavorful chicken thighs, we reach for the packets and sachets after all. The onion soup mix gives your chicken a deep, rich and savory flavor, while also creating crunchy chicken skin. Most onion soup mixes contain small pieces of dried onion, after all. You can taste those on the chicken thigh. Great texture, tender, juicy chicken and an incredible amount of flavor: you don’t need anything more for your chicken.
Sear, spread, enjoy
The flavor and juiciness of your chicken get even better when you mix the onion soup mix with mayonnaise. So definitely do that. Experiment a little with the quantities: trust your ‘dipping sauce instinct.’ The more onion soup mix, the stronger the flavor. And the saltier the mixture. So there’s no need to salt your chicken thighs extra! How do you prepare your chicken next? First, preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, sear the chicken thighs in a red-hot pan: feel free to let that seared edge show. Coat your chicken thighs generously with the onion soup mix and mayo mixture—also between the crevices (sounds gross, I know). Then place your chicken thighs in the oven until they reach an internal temperature of 73 degrees Celsius. Then they’re cooked through. Juicy, in other words, and not dry.
Extra tip: you can also prepare your chicken thighs until super tender in your Airfryer. Much easier!
