The secret to super tender, juicy chicken breast from the Airfryer

There’s nothing better than a juicy, tender piece of chicken every now and then. With the emphasis on juicy and tender. Because we want nothing to do with dry, tough stuff that requires five minutes of chewing before you can swallow a piece of cardboard. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to prevent that. And yehes: with the Airfryer too!

The Airfryer has surprised us before. From frikandel quiche to 21 thick layers of nachos, the wonder appliance can do it all. But the magic trick for a simple, juicy piece of chicken breast from the Airfryer? We didn’t know that one yet. Until today. And we’ll say it right away: the trick is pretty genius.
Yogurt and lemon juice (and rest)
The secret? A marinade of Greek yogurt and freshly squeezed lemon juice! This combination doesn’t just turn your chicken into a true flavor explosion; it also keeps it super juicy. That’s because the marinade retains moisture. For 2 (boneless) chicken breasts, you’ll need about 250 grams of Greek yogurt, the juice of 1 lemon, and some salt and pepper. Put the chicken in a bowl or resealable bag and prepare the marinade in the meantime. Coat the chicken breasts with the marinade, then let them rest for 4 hours.

When the chicken is nearing the end of its marinating time, turn on the Airfryer. Preheat it to 190 degrees Celsius. Shake off the excess yogurt from the chicken breasts: you don’t want them swimming in yogurt. Ready? Put the chicken breasts in the Airfryer basket with some space between them. That way, your little chickens can breathe. Then cook the chicken breasts in the Airfryer for 10 to 15 minutes. Turn them halfway through so they cook evenly. Want to make sure they’re done? Insert your meat thermometer. Once they reach 75 degrees Celsius inside, they’re ready. Finally, let the chicken breasts rest for a few more minutes after taking them out of the Airfryer. Yes, chicken likes to rest. Leave him alone. That’s crucial if you want it to be as juicy as possible.
Without stringy bits and without an Airfryer
By the way, if there are still some of those unpleasant, white stringy bits in your chicken breast: you can remove them in no time. Since we’re talking about perfect chicken breasts anyway. And don’t have an Airfryer? Or do you prefer going all out with pans? Then we also have a guide to tender, juicy chicken breasts for you.
