Is a jar of chopped garlic not your thing, meaning you always chop the flavor booster yourself? I have a very tasty trick for you. It lets you chop garlic yourself without actually having to chop garlic yourself. Sounds vague? Let me explain.

No, chopping garlic isn’t difficult in principle. You remove the skin, place it on a chopping board and chop it finely. But working with those things is hardly the most enjoyable task of your entire cooking session. Right? Your hands will reek terribly, and if you have to chop a lot of garlic cloves, you’ll be done with it after just a few cloves. There’s a hugely handy solution to precisely these problems.

Chopping garlic: super-fast

In this case, your immersion blender is the magic wand that turns your garlic cloves into finely chopped garlic in no time. Instead of using it upside down, with the blade side facing down, turn the blender over. You’re now looking at the chopping section from above. Put several garlic cloves into it. Not too many, but you can fit about 4 or 5. Now wrap plastic wrap tightly over the head of the blender. That way, the chopped garlic won’t fly everywhere. Turn on the immersion blender. After just a few seconds, your garlic will be completely finely chopped. Grab a bowl, tap the immersion blender against it a few times and scrape out the remaining garlic with a spoon. Your chopped garlic is ready. How easy?!

This is what you’ll ultimately find in the immersion blender. No smelly hands, no hours of your life you’ll never get back, no hassle. And that’s how you can make this delicious garlic soup without any effort. Or this garlic butter. Or aioli. Or whatever else you need finely chopped garlic for. You’re very welcome.
