Tip! Baking pancakes in a rice cooker

Pannenkoek

If there’s one dish that equals celebration, it’s pancakes. In my opinion, they’re the ultimate comfort food. And although we thought there was only one way to make pancakes—frying them in a skillet—it turns out that this age-old treat is keeping up with modern times too. The latest trend in pancakes: make them in a rice cooker.

The TikTok hack has gone completely viral. Because instead of wafer-thin pancakes like you’re used to, you get a thick pancake cake. If you think there’s nothing better than a simple pancake… Well, there is.

Pancakes in a rice cooker

We knew that the rice cooker is an appliance you can do just about anything with. But this exceeds all our expectations. And the best part is that making the pancake cake is incredibly simple. You make pancake batter, pour it into your greased rice cooker and bake the pancake cake until it’s done. How long that takes depends somewhat on the type of rice cooker you have. It’s best to use a skewer to check whether the pancake cake is ready. Just like with a real cake, actually.

Check out the TikTok video below, which has now been viewed more than 18 million (!) times.
