Wave of complaints about Albert Heijn because of an overly successful savings promotion

After the hamster balls and plastic cookie bakers, Albert Heijn is back with another failed promotion. Vivo’s limited-edition tableware is already sold out, even though the promotion is still running.

After the hamster balls turned out to be too dangerous for children and the cookie bakers were made of plastic yet again, you would think people have had enough by now. Well, no. Just when there is finally an environmentally friendly savings promotion, everything is sold out while the promotion still has a month and a half to go.

Two plates

We don’t actually think the promotion is all that great to begin with: after filling an entire savings card – worth €400 in groceries – you can pick up a set of two plates, provided you pay a few euros extra. Excuse me, Appie? Two plates? A decent set consists of at least six plates, if you ask us. What if you have a family or guests over? This means that for a normal tableware set, you are expected to spend €1,200 on groceries, and then pay extra as well.

More realistic

Of course, we understand that you would buy those groceries anyway, but perhaps make it twenty stamps per savings card? Or at least four plates per completed savings card? Many Twitter users, just like us, do not agree with the promotion.

Reservation service

To calm things down, Albert Heijn has decided to make the limited edition slightly less limited after all. At the beginning of February, you can register here for Appie’s tableware reservation service.
