Welcome Birra Moretti! Italy’s favorite beer is now available in supermarkets here too
Of course, you can eat and drink fantastic food and beverages all over the world. But Italy is still the ideal holiday destination for me. Pizzas, pastas, wines and beers; they can do it all (and they really appreciate blonde women. Personally, I also consider that a plus). Speaking of beer; from now on, you can also buy the flagship of Italian lagers in the Netherlands. Cin Cin!
The Italian feeling
Birra Moretti is Italy’s favorite beer. It isn’t a specialty beer, but it is a premium lager that brings the feeling of Italy into your home with every sip. Lager is without a doubt the most widely consumed beer in the world. The color of these so-called bottom-fermented beers varies from bright yellow to amber, and the style is known for being easy to drink.
Birra Moretti was created in 1859 in Udine, a quiet provincial town between Venice and the Alps. 162 years later, the production process has remained virtually unchanged. The result? A spicy, not-too-bitter, pleasantly light and smooth beer with a lovely citrus aroma and a subtle sweetness that is easy to pair with all kinds of Italian dishes. Italian charcuterie board: check. Italian quiche? Yep. With a Panzanella? Si!
Happy alcohol-free
While alcohol-free wine often still struggles—you go from 11 to 0 percent alcohol, which does affect the taste—there are now plenty of beers that are genuinely delicious without alcohol. The alcohol-free Birra Moretti Zero, from which the alcohol is very carefully removed through a brewing process, is also something to be happy about.
In supermarkets and the hospitality industry
From this week, Birra Moretti and Birra Moretti Zero are available throughout the Netherlands. You can find them in 6-pack cans, in the classic brown returnable bottles in 6-packs, and in a crate of 24. And as soon as the hospitality industry is allowed to reopen (I pray, Lord!), you’ll also find them in Dutch bars and restaurants. Saluti!
