What exactly is hot honey and what can you use it for?

Hot honey is going completely viral on social media, and we can see why. That perfect balance between sweet and spicy literally gives everything an upgrade.
Hot honey is exactly what you think it is: honey with a kick. The base is honey, but chili flakes are added, creating a combination of sweet and spicy in one sauce. And believe us: it’s addictively good. Making hot honey yourself
Here’s how: add honey and chili flakes to a saucepan and heat over low heat until it just starts to bubble gently. Remove from the heat and let it cool for a moment. Then add a splash of apple cider vinegar, stir well, and you’re done! Easy peasy.
How do you use hot honey?
You can drizzle hot honey over absolutely anything, but these are five of my favorite combinations:
1. Over pizza – A pizza margherita or burrata in particular gets a serious upgrade with a little hot honey.
2. Over the viral TikTok bowl – You know that bowl with seasoned ground beef, sweet potato, avocado, and cottage cheese? Hot honey makes it even better.

3. Over roasted Brussels sprouts – Forget boring Brussels sprouts, because a drizzle of hot honey suddenly makes them irresistible.
4. Over halloumi (for example on a flatbread) – Halloumi + hot honey = a match made in heaven. Try it on a flatbread with some arugula and pomegranate seeds, and you’ll never want anything else.
5. Over fried chicken – This may well be the best combo of all. Think crispy fried chicken with a thin layer of hot honey. Delicious!
