With these teacups, you’ll insult your guests—and they’re hilarious

Is the bailiff coming over? Are your visitors staying for the new baby sticking around far too long? Are you completely fed up with your partner? You can subtly let your guests know it’s time to clear off with Miss Havisham’s teacups, decorated with adorable flowers—and a vicious insult.

Miss Havisham’s tableware is named after a gothic Charles Dickens character. The insult teacups look exactly like cups you might buy at an antique shop, or ones that have been gathering dust in grandma’s cupboard for years. Arrange them cozily on a tray, add sugar cubes and perhaps a cloud of milk? Only once the tea is gone do you see what the hostess wants to tell you: I hope you choke or Kindly fuck off.
Horror movies and a crazy grandma
How did she come up with the idea? The creator, writer Melissa Johnson, was inspired by her grandmother. ‘My grandmother was not a sweet little old lady,’ Melissa tells the blog Nomansland. ‘She was always in a bad mood and could swear like a sailor. We kept tableware left over from her antique shop because it was incomplete or cracked. She wrote dirty words on it with nail polish. She also embroidered strange texts on quilt blankets.’
Stock up
Melissa has the cups made in her shop by local artisans. Naturally, she comes up with the decorations and texts herself.
Want them, want them, want them? The cups are available at American horror conventions such as Monsterpalooza and Missummer Scream. Luckily, you can also order them from the Miss Havisham webshop. Buy in bulk so you can save on shipping costs: the tableware has to come all the way from Los Angeles.
