Thirsty tales

With this appliance, you can make the most delicious Coffee Mojito

One of my good intentions for 2023 is to spend less money on ‘going out for coffee’, especially to go. I spent so much money on that last year, and I wanted to approach things differently this year.

My solution? Simply make it at home myself. Sounds obvious, but of course I want it to taste just as good as it does when you buy it out. Well, I succeeded; by now, I’m a real barista. I’m happy to share the most delicious recipes with you for the perfect coffee at home.

What you need

Step one is immediately the most important: a good machine. Personally, I’m a huge fan of De’Longhi appliances: super high quality and very easy to use. That last point was important to me too, since I’m not exactly a pro. If you are, they also have the perfect pump espresso machines for you. And another nice thing: their appliances look great and don’t take up too much space. Well, looks matter too.

Take this PrimaDonna Soul by De’Longhi, for example, a fully automatic espresso machine that genuinely has everything you need. And by everything, I really mean everything: you can even control it with your phone. Brilliant. This is done via the Coffee Link app, which also contains plenty of tips and tricks, as well as recipes.

The PrimaDonna Soul is also very easy to use. If you’re a more experienced barista (as I now consider myself), the La Specialista Prestigio pump espresso machine is absolutely perfect. It features a steam wand and unique grinding technology, ensuring that all the beans are ground consistently. The Smart Tamping Station also ensures that every dose of ground coffee is tamped consistently. Thanks to my experience in the hospitality industry, I know how important that is; it really makes a difference in the result in the cup, such as the taste and crema of your coffee. By now, I’m a real pro—I dare say so. And that’s why I’m sharing my favorite coffee recipe with you, because believe me: you’ll want to make this. So delicious.

How to make the Coffee Mojito

That would be the Coffee Mojito. And yes, it’s completely Dry January-proof, even though the name might suggest otherwise.

De'Longhi Coffee Mojito recipe

What you need:
– Coffee beans
– Ice cubes
– Mint syrup
– Light brown soft sugar
– Mint leaves
– Lemon zest
– Granulated sugar
– Long spoon

How to make the Coffee Mojito:

1. Pour a thin layer of mint syrup into your cup (or glass) and add some soft brown sugar. The bottom of the cup or glass should be covered.

2. Place a cup with ice cubes under the machine and brew a coffee at 70 degrees (this is called the Over-Iced method, in which coffee is brewed at a slightly lower temperature over several ice cubes). This is the perfect base for any iced coffee.

3. Froth the espresso, pour it into the cup and add the ice cubes.

4. Garnish with soft brown sugar, mint leaves and lemon zest.
