You can now buy Club Sandwich salad for bread at Albert Heijn
White toasted sandwiches, mayo, lettuce, chicken breast, tomato and crispy fried bacon: those are the ingredients for the ultimate club sandwich. With some plain crisps on the side (or on top!), this sandwich is a worldwide classic. But what would it taste like as a spread on bread? Gross or golden?
It is already the third new spread from Albert Heijn in a row. We previously bought the sparerib spread and the smoked sausage spread. But simply turning a dish into a spread for bread? That is a matter of combining the right flavours with the right texture (which was quite disappointing in the sparerib salad).

Time for a test: what does the new club sandwich salad taste like? If we quickly look at the ingredients list on the back of the container, we see chicken meat, egg, tomato and bacon at the top. You would rather not look at the rest of the ingredients list, because what an enormous number of E-numbers! (How about potassium lactate [E326], citric acid [E330], lactic acid [E270], sodium citrates [E331], potassium sorbate [E202], sodium nitrite [E250], potassium nitrate [E252], potassium acetates [E261], acetic acid [E260], xanthan gum [E415], guar gum [E412], sodium ascorbate [E301], triphosphates [E451] and diphosphates [E450]…).
Well, for your health, you would be better off spreading a layer of butter and a slice of cheese on your bread. But is it tasty? Actually, quite tasty, according to FavorFlav’s Lauretta. The spread genuinely tastes like a club sandwich, mainly because the mayonnaise and bacon come through well. The generous amount of chicken pieces does not disappoint either.
Club sandwich salad: quite expensive
