You eat healthy at these airlines

When you’re on vacation, you naturally stuff yourself with the most delicious pasta, bread, dumplings, tacos and other delicacies every day. All the more reason to eat healthy on the plane. So which airline is your best bet?

The American magazine Forbes compiled a list of all American airlines, rated according to the healthiness of their food. This was determined, among other things, by the number of calories in each meal or snack box, the transparency of the nutritional information, menu innovation and improvements to healthy options on board.
Alaska Airlines comes in first place, with 4.25 out of a possible five stars. Popular airlines Delta Air Lines and JetBlue rank second and third, respectively, with 3.7 and 3.55 stars. We had never heard of Frontier Airlines, and for good reason. With a meagre 0.85 stars, this airline comes in eleventh and last place.
Outside America
Don’t have a trip with an American airline planned? South Korean Asiana Airlines is also known for its good food, which often comes with a great deal of vegetables. You’ll often get soup and always a bowl of fruit for dessert. Within Europe, Lufthansa is known for its good food, and EVA Air has won awards for the best food in economy class. With the latter, you do get a little cake from French bakery chain PAUL, so unfortunately it isn’t really healthy.
Tip
An extra tip for eating healthily on board? Most airlines allow you to request a special meal. Simply select vegetarian or vegan, and you’ll get plenty of vegetables. With some budget airlines, you can even purchase your exact meal while buying your ticket. And if you’re a real health freak, you can of course bring your own home made soup or salad.
