10 secrets McDonald’s employees won’t tell you
Yaaaay, your biggest McDonald’s fan is back again. I’ve already treated you to some MacHacks before, and today I’ve got some more fun facts for you. Or what am I saying, facts? Secrets is a better word. Ten secrets, in fact, that will only make your McDonald’s order and experience better. Just watch.
These are ten secrets that employees won’t tell you, but that are incredibly useful to know. I’d say: try them all out.
1. You can get anything ‘fresh’ if you ask for it
Fun fact: they’re not allowed to refuse this. So if you absolutely don’t want a Big Mac that’s maybe been sitting there for a while, you don’t have to bend over backwards asking for no pickles, sauce on the side or that kind of thing. No: just ask for one fresh off the grill. This works with other items on the menu too, by the way.
2. The Egg McMuffin really is made with egg
Yes, you’re probably thinking: how on earth do you get an egg into such a perfect shape? But Maccie can do it. The secret is the way the egg is cracked, and the ring in which it’s cooked. They are also steamed and fried at the same time. Actually, it’s something you could try at home too.
3. Walking through the drive-thru won’t get you anywhere
McDonald’s employees are instructed not to help anyone at the drive-thru who isn’t in a motorized vehicle. So no, cycling isn’t an option either. Just stand in line inside, then.
4. You can totally mix ‘n match the sauces
Want a cheeseburger with that delicious Big Mac sauce? Just ask: it’s perfectly possible. Or a Big Mac with ketchup only? That works too. It’s fun to try once in a while.
5. But don’t expect them to think you’re the most fun customer
No, those special requests are simply annoying, let’s be honest. So they’ll fulfill them, but not necessarily with love.
6. You might want to avoid the apple pie…
An insider told us: ‘if the apple pie is past its expiration date, we often just put a new date on it.’ Uhh, no thanks – I’ll be skipping that one from now on.
7. But you can keep ordering the milkshakes without worry
The machine is thoroughly cleaned every week—as long as everything is working properly, but let’s assume it is. So you don’t have to worry about mold or other disgusting things in your milkshake. Thankfully. But if you know what the situation is with soft-serve ice cream, you might still prefer to skip it..
8. Drive-thru employees have to stand for their entire shift
Hoooly shit, I really couldn’t make it through a day like that. Imagine the drive-thru being super quiet, and you’re required to keep standing? No way, give me a stool.
9. There is no such thing as a ‘secret menu‘
This is genuinely a kind of myth that circulates about every chain. Starbucks supposedly has one, Maccie does too—and basically every chain you can think of. But it doesn’t exist. Sorry to burst your bubble. The tip above applies here too: just ask if you’re curious whether something is possible.
10. If you order one of the limited-time burgers fresh, be prepared to wait a while
The special burgers also take the longest to make. Especially the chicken burgers: they can take up to eight minutes (!) if you want one fresh. Well, then it’s not really fast food anymore, is it?
