10x proof that Action is the champion of weird snacks

Action winkel

Action spontaneously puts a smile on our faces. The amount of fantastic stuff you can buy there for next to nothing is truly unprecedented. But there’s one department where we simply burst out laughing, and that’s the snack aisle. How does that store manage to collect so many bizarre (and unhealthy!) snacks?!

This isn’t the first time we’ve walked through Action’s snack aisle with our hands over our mouths, by the way. Earlier, we also found a whole string of weird finds. And I have a sneaking suspicion this won’t be the last time…

1. Candy Can drink

Action has a gigantic selection of drinks that make the enamel jump straight off your teeth. One of the biggest piles of sugary junk: Candy Can. The flavors alone sound so sickly sweet that your throat starts itching just looking at them. In the store, we saw Caramel Fudge, Sour Apple and Birthday Cake, among others. Now, I should point out that they contain ‘zero sugar’, so at least there’s a tiny bit of thought given to your teeth. But it’s still an unhealthy mess.

2. Snickers, Twix and Maltesers drinks

For anyone who loves the Celebrations box so much that they’d ideally drink it too. Your dream comes true with these liquid Snickers, Twix and Maltesers. I think you’ll either find this heaven in a bottle, or experience it as traumatic because it’s so sweet. Isn’t buying this for your kids a form of child abuse?

3. Unicorn drink

I said it before: Action’s drinks aisle is basically a playground slash torture chamber. Take this Unicorn drink. It comes in watermelon and tropical flavors. This is a perfect example of how children are made it very, very difficult to stay away from soft drinks. The packaging already gives away that this stuff is extremely chemical.

4. Chupa Chups drink

Well. From liquid Snickers and Twix to liquid lollipops. Chupa Chups has had this drink in its range for quite some time, but that doesn’t make it any less weird. These drinks are a punch card for the dentist. Get ten stamps and your teeth are fixed again.

5. Herr’s Carolina Reaper

Carolina Reaper was the hottest pepper in the world for around 10 years. Now you can taste a hint of it with these chips. If I’m to believe the packaging, they’ll set your mouth on fire. And not just a little. The hottest chips you can buy are incredibly cheap at Action, so if you dare… We haven’t seen Herr’s Carolina Reaper this cheap anywhere else, so this is your chance.

6. Crackzels

A lot is going on here. Pretzel pieces with honey, mustard and onion flavor? That has to be one heck of a flavor explosion. Positively or negatively. At least it immediately grabs your attention. I think this is a snack you’ll devour in one go without even realizing it.

7. Bifi Carazza XXL

The high school student in me is incredibly happy about this. A Bifi toastie-pizza-hot dog snack, whaaat?! FavorFlav’s Wieke, who once wrote an ode to the Bifi sausage, will be bouncing off the walls over this too. Is it a little weird? Sure. But totally Action proof.

8. Bebeto Wacky Sticks

These Wacky Sticks taste like fruit and contain some kind of filling. You can also get them in fuzzy, with a layer of sugar on top. The slightly too-bright colors of these things make me think of only one thing: this stuff is chemical as hell.

9. Brain Blasterz Brain Bitz XXL

These Brain Blasterz Brain Bitz (quite a mouthful) are supposed to make your brain explode because they’re so sour. On a scale of 1 to 5, they even score a 1 (?!). Mind blowing, or not?

10. Dr. Candy spray

You used to have those candy sprays that you had to spray onto your tongue, right? And then you’d have a bright red or blue tongue for the rest of the day? That’s what this reminds me of a little. With the side note that, now, some 20 years later, I realize just how terribly chemical and bad this stuff is.
