9 of the strangest products from Action

Here in the editorial office, we’re big fans of Action. From an amazing outdoor fireplace and kamado BBQ to a football popcorn machine and a Magic Bullet for less than 30 euros: we keep stumbling upon the most brilliant finds. But honestly: genius and crazy can sometimes be close together. Especially in the food department, we regularly come across some rather… unusual products. These are the 9 strangest products you can currently buy at Action.

Pan with baking mix (€4.79)
Whoever buys this package gets a frying pan with pancake or brownie mix. My question is: why would you want to buy a pan right away if you wanted to bake pancakes or brownies?!

Maaza Banana drink (46 cents)
FavorFlav’s Sharon can’t wait to try this banana-flavoured soft drink. Not surprising either: she loves bananas so much that she even had a little banana put on her nail. For anyone who isn’t quite as fond of bananas, I expect this drink to make its way back out at great speed.

Trolli Big burger (75 cents)
We all had those little candy burgers in the sweet jar at some point during our childhood. This is the large version. Do we want to try it? Secretly, yes. And—as we’ve come to expect from Action—it costs next to nothing. So we can’t really call it money wasted if it does ultimately end up in the bin.

Oasia canned nasi goreng (€2.99)
There are some foods you simply should not want to put in a can, and nasi goreng absolutely belongs on that list.

Candy Can Sour apple (78 cents)
You can wander through Action’s snack aisle in complete amazement. How does that store manage to collect so many bizarre (and unhealthy!) snacks?! Action really is the champion of strange snacks. My face already twists up just thinking about having to drink this sour-apple-flavoured beverage.

Candy Can Birthday cake (78 cents)
From the same brand as the sour apple drink: a can of soft drink with birthday-cake flavour. Yes, apparently that is a flavour. And apparently one you can consume in liquid form too. Zero sugar but sickeningly sweet. You can probably guess what kind of junk is in it.

The Energy Drink Bearry Marshmallow (49 cents)
We’d already figured out that Action has a wide and varied selection of drinks with some rather unusual flavours. Another gem: this marshmallow-flavoured drink. I think there’s so much sugar in it that it could cause not only cavities in your teeth, but holes in your stomach too. It is a very fun can, though!

Bifi Bakehouse Italian Herbs Rolls (€1.49)
Bifi sausages with a crunchy coating of Italian herbs around them. You don’t need to know anything more to decide whether you should run to the nearest Action right now or give it a wide berth.

An extremely small jar of Nutella (69 cents)
Imagine this: you arrive at work and open your lunchbox. You see a stack of dry sandwiches and think: damn! I completely forgot to spread anything on my sandwiches this morning. But luckily, I did bring sandwiches. In that case, this 25-gram mini jar of Nutella is ideal. And if you ask me, that’s exactly the kind of situation Action sells it for.
