7 absurdly handy kitchen hacks, part 2

It turns out you all loved those kitchen hacks from last time! Well, rest assured, we have more up our sleeve, for everyone who can’t get enough of little tricks that make your life easier:

I can’t promise that the mobile ‘loaded nachos from a bag of chips’ will ever be topped, but there are bound to be tips & tricks here that make you think: I’m putting my phone down and doing this NOW…
1. Reheat your pizza in a frying pan
Admit it, nobody really thinks reheating leftover pizza in the microwave is a good idea. Even if you use that one handy microwave-pizza trick. Trust us, the crust will definitely be crispier and less soggy in a large frying pan than from the microwave.

2. Peanut butter oatmeal
Leave that very last bit of peanut butter in the jar. Add two tablespoons of oatmeal or rolled oats, milk of your choice and some dried fruit, then give it a shake. The next morning, add some fresh fruit and coconut flakes, and your super-easy no waste breakfast is ready.
3. Get flossing, with that cheese
That fun cheese-wire thing they use at the cheese shop to cut cheese? You can simply fake it at home with a piece of dental floss! Not through an incredibly hard rind, of course, but with softer cheeses you can easily pull a long piece of floss through, without the cheese sticking as annoyingly as it does to a knife. Just like with that fun watermelon hack.
4. Make a microwave omelet
Delightfully lowbrow and easy: a filled omelet made in a large mug. Beat two or three eggs in a bowl, add leftover vegetables and grated cheese, stir, and pour into one large mug or two. Microwave on high for a minute, stir briefly, microwave for another minute and ping! You’ll soon be sitting on the couch or at your desk with this easy peasy savory breakfast.
5. Grape ice cube in your drink
Instead of ice cubes, you can also use frozen grapes to keep juice (or sangria!) cool. No more watery drinks, and especially with sangria, you’ll have a delicious boozy grape left to nibble on later.
6. Never again: cheese paste
Isn’t it incredibly annoying when you want to coarsely grate cheese on one of those four-sided box graters, and after two strokes everything starts sticking, leaving you with a kind of cheese butter and absolutely no desire to grate for another second? This often happens with pale yellow and bright orange cheddar (which you need for the best mac ’n’ cheese, or those amazing nachos from a bag). The trick? Spray a tiny bit of cooking spray on the grater! You won’t notice the taste or greasiness once the cheese is melted anyway. Top tip, this.
7. Turn your pizza cutter into a herb cutter
You can use that pizza cutter even more often! So bring it out when you need to chop fresh herbs, too. Hold the herbs together in a bunch and simply roll the pizza cutter over them from front to back. Ideal! And it saves storage space that would otherwise be needed for a mezzaluna, or rocking knife…
