Build Your Own Bao with Bo Nam’s Bao Kit
Since the restaurant lockdown, we’ve seen an unprecedented explosion of restaurants that have been forced to start offering delivery meals. Boxes from your favorite neighborhood restaurant, boxes from star chefs, drinks-and-snacks boxes in all shapes and sizes, breakfast boxes, special-edition boxes for Mother’s or Father’s Day, and so on. A trend that we at FavorFlav can of course only applaud.
The latest cool initiative to come our way: restaurant Bo Nam’s build-your-own bao kit. Presented in a fun sneaker box, it contains all the ingredients you need to make the restaurant’s locally famous pink bao buns at home.
The Asian bistro, near Leidseplein in Amsterdam, quickly started offering takeaway menus just after the lockdown, featuring dishes such as pho, spring rolls and bao buns. The downside: the delivery area for hot takeaway menus is limited by nature.
BYO box
With the BYO box, which comes with reheating instructions, you can put your own complete Bo Nam dinner on the table in no time. The box contains ingredients for four bao buns: two pulled chicken, two pulled mushrooms, imperial rolls and fried rice. And this way, you can finally eat steamed-bao-buns-the-way-steamed-bao-buns-are-meant-to-be-eaten. Two of the Vietnamese co-owners of the collective behind Bo Nam (located in the building that once housed Bo Cinq, owned by hospitality entrepreneur Casper Reinders, who is also a co-owner of Bo Nam) previously worked at the former Vietnamese restaurant Nghia N Nghia.
