Burger King makes burger with special Italian cheese

Soon, you won’t just be going to Italy for the best pizzas and pastas, but also to make a quick stop at Burger King. It may not sound like something you’re looking forward to during an Italian holiday (although: a trip to Burger King is always welcome, right?), but once you see this new burger, you’ll understand why.

Their new burger, the Parmigiano Reggiano Burger, sounds absolutely delicious. As the name somewhat gives away, this burger comes with Parmigiano cheese, also known as Parmesan cheese, and I honestly don’t understand why this burger didn’t exist already.
Part of Italian Kings
Burger King has a new ‘line’ in Italy, namely Italian Kings. These are burgers made up of different combinations of burgers and classic Italian dishes. So don’t expect imitation Parmesan cheese on this burger, but real Parmigiano Reggiano. Parmigiano Reggiano may only be produced in five provinces: Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena (which is also where the best balsamic vinegar comes from), and parts of Mantua and Bologna. Italians are strict about production processes and their protected designation of origin (DOP, Denominazione di Origine Protetta).
Mayonnaise with Parmigiano Reggiano flavour
Burger King has quite a lot of confidence in this new burger, as they have purchased 20 tonnes (!) of it. Besides the cheese, the burger also contains a 150-gram beef patty, mayonnaise with Parmigiano Reggiano flavour (I’m very curious about this, and couldn’t they just start selling it separately too, please?), bacon and fried onion. And of course, some lettuce. Okay, I was already sold — I have to try this!
