Experts agree: this is the very best bamischijf from the supermarket

For years, the bamischijf lost out to croquettes, frikandellen and chicken nuggets from the fried-snack assortment. But that is beginning to change. More and more people are ordering the exotic snack at the snack bar. Anyone else who is crazy about bamischijven and would ideally like to always have one in the freezer: pay attention. Real bami experts have chosen the very best bamischijf from the supermarket.

What has brought about the bamischijf’s big comeback? Social media. It makes sense, too, because anything that appears on TikTok becomes an instant hit these days. On TikTok, Veerle van der Meulen is known as the ‘Queen of Bami’s’, because of her great love for the snack. This bamischijf enthusiast, together with fellow bamischijf fans, TV chef Perry de Man and rapper Donnie (who, incidentally, has his own divine bamischijf recipe), was a member of the panel that chose the best supermarket bamischijf.
Spicy, crispy and generously filled
The panel tested 6 different bamischijven from the supermarket. Bamischijven from the snack bar did not count, even though the election took place at FEBO on Amsterdam’s Stadionplein. Before the election, the obvious question was: what makes a bamischijf a real winner? What does it need to have to make our mouths water? The panel members’ responses showed that there are 3 qualities: pleasantly spicy, a firm, crispy crust and plenty of good bami filling. The bami experts paid close attention to these points in their assessments.
The winning bamischijf
There was plenty of enthusiastic tasting, smelling and looking. But as Henny Huisman sang: there can only be one winner. And that is Mora’s bamischijf. Full of flavour, creamy and generously filled: just as a bamischijf should be. ‘Spicy, moist enough, but still crispy,’ Veerle described it. Donnie thought the Mora disc ‘made his taste buds chill’. Plus: ‘the flavour hit the mark and it had a good grip on the jaw’. Well, that’s how you want them, right?
The loser
The panel members were very positive about the bamischijven tested. They all passed the test; not a single disc scored below a five. Still, the testers were less enthusiastic about Mekkafood’s bamischijf. ‘The filling is almost neon yellow!’ was one reaction. It also had very little flavour. Take advantage of that: now you know which bamischijf to buy—and which one you can leave in the freezer.
