Hello, what is that: frikandel Hawaii

The first man or woman to squeeze a bunch of moldy grapes and say to their companions, “Shall we drink what comes out of this?”, was an absolute hero. And of course, the people who invented the wheel, the constitution, and Wi-Fi were too—thank you. But there’s a new hero to add to the list: Yael Potjer. Not because he is a member of the provincial council of Utrecht, but because he announced a brand-new snack on Twitter that has turned all of snack-loving Netherlands upside down: the frikandel Hawaii.

Pizza Hawaii still gets people riled up. During the European Championship, Italian supporters demonstrated—not only for their team, but also against pizza with pineapple. Please stop doing it, they begged the rest of Europe. Never again.

Deep-fried snack stick combo
Yael Potjer either wasn’t listening, or he felt like being contrary. He posted a frikandel on Twitter, with a picture of pineapple next to it. Combo, people? That sounds like a BRILLIANT idea! Savory, but also a little sweet, combined with juicy, ultra-sweet pineapple. Canned, of course, because you can’t combine vitamins with the brown deep-fried snack stick.
Curry sauce on the side?
And have people tried it yet? Absolutely, and it’s not bad at all. The new hit combination gains an extra dimension from a generous amount of curry sauce. Just as the right handbag can pull an entire outfit together, curry sauce plays that role too: in the background, but as an indispensable connecting link.
So? Have you tried it yet?
