In huge letters in the calendar: we’re going to wine festival Vinhalla!
There are few things I enjoy visiting more than wine festivals. A bit of tasting, chatting, knocking back an oyster here and there or a respectable croquette, oh look, there’s a real winemaker over there: LOVE IT. And after the gloom of recent times, everything that was serious and everything that had to be cancelled, we’re now genuinely buzzing with excitement at the fact that parties and events are finally being organised again. Like this wine festival!
Because at the beginning of November, specifically on 4, 5 & 6 November, ‘paradise for wine lovers’ will take place in a cool venue in Amsterdam-Noord. Grapedistrict, the well-known specialist chain that makes delicious wines accessible to everyone, is organising a major celebration with food, entertainment and, of course, lots and lots of wine…
Something for everyone
With more than 7 different wine bars serving over 100 different wines between them, there’s something for every taste and palate! For example, there will be an Oyster Bar with champagne and other bubbles, a Natural Wine Bar for purists, and a Weinstube (where I don’t think you’ll be able to drag me away – I absolutely love German wines).
Come hungry
And they’re going big and varied when it comes to food too: alongside a large restaurant where you can enjoy an extensive dinner, there will also be lots of small restaurants and special food trucks from The Food Line up. There are some fantastic spots among them, including the heroes at The Beef Chief, who may well make the best burgers in all of Amsterdam… There will also be plenty of fish (sustainable fish from Vis van Henry – really excellent), pizzas from fantastic Rotterdam-based Old Scuola, and vegan treats from Jack Bean. Make sure you’re hungry!
