Queuing for the first Dutch pizza vending machine

The first Dutch pizza vending machine is a resounding success. There has been such a machine in Hoek van Holland since last week, and last weekend a long queue formed at night of people craving a hot, fresh pizza from a machine.

The pizza machine is located on the premises of a garage in Hoek van Holland. Put in some money and within three minutes a hot, freshly baked pizza rolls out. Brilliant! Last weekend, a long queue formed in the garage’s parking lot of people who wanted to see it with their own eyes. All the pizzas sold out, except the BBQ chicken pizza and the quattro fromaggio.
When in Rome…
The pizza machine has already been a huge success in Rome for a year. There, it is mainly people who work at night who pull a hot pizza from the machine after their working day. Not every Italian is thrilled by this innovation: people openly say that they can make a better pizza themselves at home. But try doing that at four in the morning when your shift as a taxi driver has just ended.
Just like a sponge
Truck drivers who have to spend the night in the parking lot, people who have been out, or motorists who fill not only their car’s tank but also their stomachs: people in the vicinity of the pizza machine are absolutely delighted with this opportunity to grab a hot pizza at any time of day. One local resident is less enthusiastic: Mario, owner of the local pizzeria. He thinks the pizzas from the vending machine resemble a sponge and would rather starve to death than take a bite.
