Rosé lovers, take note! Lidl sells a dupe of the famous Miraval rosé

Rosé: for us, it really is the ultimate summer wine. That color alone! Doesn’t it instantly cheer you up? We can’t get enough of it in the editorial office. But decent rosé can be a bit pricey. Take that delicious Miraval rosé, for example. It costs around fifteen euros per bottle. Lidl is now selling a dupe of Miraval rosé. If you squint, Lidl’s Monalie looks remarkably like Miraval—and it costs a fraction of the price.

The delicious Miraval is made by none other than Brad Pitt. He does this together with the famous French winemaking family Perrin. Rosé can be made anywhere in the world, as long as blue grapes are planted there. But naturally, Brad makes his rosé in the rosé-wine mecca: Provence. Lidl’s Monalie is also made in Provence.

And don’t immediately assume that you’re dealing with a careless glugging wine: wine writer Harold Hamersma sniffed Lidl’s Monalie extensively and awarded it a score of 8. “Subtle red fruit, pleasantly spicy, sunny and carefully dry on the finish,” says Harold Hamersma about Monalie rosé from Lidl. I don’t know about you, but my mouth is already watering.
On offer
In short, if you’re looking for an affordable yet high-quality rosé, Lidl’s Monalie is an excellent choice. Delicious flavor, chic appearance! Luxury without spending a lot of money, because Monalie costs 6 euros per bottle. And it gets even better: starting next week (July 1), it will be on offer too: you pay half price for the second bottle. I’m already on my way!
This isn’t the first time Lidl has surprised us with a delicious wine at an excellent price, by the way. So if you’re stocking up on some rosé anyway, be sure to pick up their Grüner Veltliner too.
