Fried chicken from Kip ‘n Drip (KID)
A kind of new kid in town, although the people behind Kip ‘n Drip (KID for short) have been at it for longer. But they’ve had their own little place on the Ruysdaelkade in Amsterdam for some time now and yes guys, as far as I’m concerned, this is one of the gems of 2023. A place where fried chicken is elevated to an art form, where the restaurant is more like an interactive museum in which you can taste the works of art from the fryer; I’m exaggerating, but then again, I’m not. I went for the crispy Sichuan chicken sandwich: a brioche bun — made with sake pulp — topped with nothing more than a fried chicken thigh (with the most delicious thin crispy coating in ages), garlic mayonnaise, red cabbage and some spicy Sichuan spices. Oh man, every bite tickles your tongue so pleasantly, it’s unbelievable. The chicken itself is exceptionally tender, with not a trace of dryness in the meat, well. What conclusion can you draw? That this is sublime. Done. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
