We can’t get enough of that good old frikandel. And there are so many things you can do with it. Simply eaten out of hand, a frikandel quiche or frikandel salad; nothing is too crazy for the true frikandel lover. Snackspert tests Albert Heijn’s new frikandel snack.

Especially for King’s Day, a new frikandel snack is appearing: Albert Heijn’s Rondje frikandel speciaal. Now, it’s actually a meatball pastry, but with two mini frikandellen inside; still, these days every snack gets a new variation. We shouldn’t make too much of it. Right? Well, luckily, this snack is more than successful. The pastry is fine—I do fear that it shouldn’t sit on the shelves for too long, because then it will become too dry—and the two little frikandellen are nicely seasoned. The sauce is a winner; not only does it contain curry, as with a frikandelbroodje, but also mayo. In addition, there are loose pieces of onion, which are an essential factor. I do wonder whether the pastry-to-meat ratio is right; in my opinion, it could even have contained a third mini frikandel. But all right. Nevertheless, a delicious snack, although next time I’ll go for a frikandelbroodje after all, because size does matter, right? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
