Sonja Bakker gets it wrong again, recipes stolen again

She got it wrong before, and now she’s done it again: on her social media, Sonja Bakker is posting recipes she didn’t come up with herself, along with a photo and without permission or payment. Plagiarism, once again. The Food Sisters, from whom Sonja stole several recipes, have hired a lawyer.

Last summer, Sonja Bakker made the news when food bloggers revealed that their recipes had been published without permission on the website of Sonja Bakker. Sonja initially denied it, then blamed an intern who had forgotten to credit the source. Then her Instagram account went dark, and Sonja told talk shows that she felt terrible about it. She was going to stop creating recipes and writing cookbooks altogether.
Just short of plagiarism
It wasn’t the first time Sonja had been accused of plagiarism. Her first cookbook already bore a striking resemblance to her fellow student’s notes, but a judge found that although the texts were very similar, they had been changed enough that they could not be called plagiarism. Well…
Weight loss
The end of Sonja Bakker’s career? No, because in November she released another new cookbook, and by now recipes are once again being shared and recommended all over social media. The Food Sisters, two food bloggers and cookbook authors who offer advice on weight loss and healthy eating, were astonished to find their own recipes in Sonja’s Instagram feed. The same photos, recipes with the same structure, and even copy-pasted versions of their useful tips—unbelievable!
Lawyer
Food Sisters Janneke and Amande refuse to let it go and hired a lawyer. “We wanted compensation for the damages, the legal costs and the photos. But Sonja was only willing to agree if we accepted conditions such as mandatory confidentiality,” sister Janneke told Nu.nl.
