The ultimate food festival guide for July

Whoo, summer! Food festivals are the ideal place for a delicious staycation. From Kwaku Summer Festival (with no fewer than a hundred food stands) to Foodstock all over the country, these are our favorites:

RotterdamseKost, in Rotterdam, July 5 to 7
The annual RotterdamseKost has been moved from September to July this year. That means a little less time to practice your killer dance moves , but you can start slurping and feasting earlier. At RotterdamseKost, you’ll find well-known restaurants with their own pop-up kitchens. Drink a home-brewed beer at De Gele Kanarie or sip a delicious cocktail at the living room of Rotterdam: Hotel New York.
Foodstock, in Heerlen, July 5 to 7
Food festival Foodstock has been traveling all over the country since May. In July, too, it will set up shop in the Netherlands’ most beautiful parks. So don’t worry if Heerlen is too far to travel or you can’t make it that weekend. In July, Foodstock can also be found in Etten Leur and Oosterhout (July 13 to 15), Eindhoven (July 19 to 21), Lelystad (July 26 to 28) and ‘s-Hertogenbosch (July 26 to 28). Wherever you are, Foodstock is a foodies paradise.
Toost, in Soest, July 5 to 7
Hello food line-up, guaranteed to make your mouth water. From Taiwanese dumplings (have you tried them?) to vegetable pita: you’ll find us here. Besides Soest, Toost can also be found in Zeist (July 12 to 14) and Brielle (July 19 to 21). We’ll raise a toast to the weekend in advance.
Vorkje-Prik Foodfestival, in Utrecht, July 5 to 7
It’ll be a busy weekend for anyone with a food-truck fetish. Utrecht is also hosting a food festival. Berlijnplein will be transformed into a place where all food lovers come together. From food trucks Armenian BBQ to Of je Spaanse worst lust, you can build a solid base here. Then grab a drink and let loose to the live music and vinyl.
Nacht van de Wijn, in Utrecht, July 6
We’re on cloud wine, because Utrecht has a new wine festival. During the night of July 6 to 7 (from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.), we can finally get acquainted. With music, food trucks and, of course, wine. Also fun: there’s a wine class. Because which wine goes best with rillettes? And with goat cheese? Learn and experiment during Nacht van de Wijn.
TREK, in Amsterdam, July 12 to 14
(Amsterdam) bon vivants, listen up! This year, Amstelpark will once again be transformed into a theater, food-truck festival and music venue all in one. Spread out your picnic blanket and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere at this festival (free admission!).
Kwaku Summer Festival, in Amsterdam, July 13 to August 4 (every weekend)
Officially not a food festival, but secretly we go there for the food (and the good times). At Kwaku, you really feel as though you’ve landed in paradise for Surinamese, Javanese, Hindustani, Caribbean and African cuisine. From a bakkeljauw sandwich with pickles to delicious markoesasap, you won’t leave hungry. And once you’ve eaten your fill, be sure to check out the many bands, performances and soccer tournaments. Know before you go: the admission price goes up by 1 euro every weekend.
Beach Food Festival Oudeschild, Texel, July 26 to 28
Yes, yes, food festivals can be found on the beach even in our little country. So get those flip-flops out of the closet and head to Texel. This year’s theme is: Surf & Turf. A union of land and sea: best of both worlds, in other words. Think briny pizza, fruits de mer and Texel lamb sandwiches. Mmm.
Rrrollend, Alkmaar, July 26 to 28
This food festival offers a generous helping of entertainment and an even bigger helping of food. Because: So. Many. Food trucks. Sample the vegetarian bitterballen and poffertjes, or let your hair fly in the air on the swing ride. Jazz bands create a lovely atmosphere during the day; in the evening, you can keep dancing to the DJs’ tunes. Just roll with it.
