Sips is receiving rave reviews. William Drew, Director of Content at the 50 Best awards, says: ”The bar seamlessly translates contemporary innovation and technical precision into a playful cocktail program, accompanied by the warmest hospitality, making it a worthy winner of the title The World’s Best Bar 2023.” Sips is also praised for the design of its interior. Because the bar has a kind of futuristic workspace at the center of the venue, the service and experience are at their best.

The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy

The decision on the number 1 spot was made by a group of 680 (!) drinks experts. The group is called The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy. The club consists of renowned bartenders and consultants, drinks writers and cocktail specialists from all over the world. Each voter may cast 7 votes, based on bar experiences from the past 18 months. Sips therefore came out on top. Paradiso, the bar in Barcelona that was named the best cocktail bar last year, is now in 4th place. As a dedicated bargoer, you’re sure to get your money’s worth in the Spanish capital.

The complete list

Below you’ll find the complete list of the 50 winners. In second place is Double Chicken Please in New York City (remember, the place where you can order cocktails inspired by your favorite dish?). With such a high ranking, this bar was immediately crowned the best in North America. The best bar in South America is Alquímico in Cartagena, Colombia. In Asia, BKK Social Club in Bangkok is number 1, and in Australia/the Middle East, it’s Maybe Sammy in Sydney. Another notable fact: London is best represented when it comes to bars. The top 50 includes no fewer than 5 bars from the English capital. So, should we plan a trip to our neighbors across the Channel too?

Uhm… What about us?

Now we’re wondering… What about the Netherlands? We don’t see a single bar from our little frog country on the list. We were also absent from the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list this year. People, we need to step it up. Those trips to Barcelona and London and so on are fun, but not great for our wallets. Fortunately, the best restaurant in the world according to Tripadvisor is in our country, in Amsterdam to be precise. Look, at least we can still visit a winner nearby.
