Will it be Bonboon in Amsterdam? Or Studio Konijnenvoer in Arnhem? Oproep, New Vegas, Jack Bean or Yemaya’s Vegan Corner? In mid-November, the best vegan restaurant in the Netherlands will receive a Vegan Award, a prize awarded every year to the best vegan initiatives. Food trucks, cookbooks and products can also win the Award.

The prize is awarded every year by the Dutch Association for Veganism, to show just how many vegan initiatives there actually are. For the nominations, the jury considers innovation, diversity, availability in the Netherlands and the impact on veganism in general. The jury also makes sure that both large and small businesses are included on the list.

The nominated restaurants are:

Vegan critters

The jury has also nominated vegan cookbooks, including Dog.Eat.Plant by Lisette Kreischers and Rick Scholtes. The recipes in the book allow animal lovers to make plant-based animal food themselves. The books Animals Can Get the Plague by Esther Ouwehand, the survival guide for a plant-based way of life by Karin Rietmeijer, Once We Ate Animals by Roanne van Voorst and Easy Peasy Vegan, created by the NVV itself, are also in with a chance of winning.

Voting?

Starting today, everyone can vote for the nominated books, restaurants, food trucks and other initiatives via the Vegan Awards website. The winners will be announced on November 20.
