We Need to Talk About Lidl’s Little Apple Pie

Lidl appeltaartje

Most people swear by their mother’s apple pie (does your mother also make the best apple pie?), but I swear by that little mini apple pie from Lidl. Because believe me: this much enjoyment for next to nothing—isn’t that fantastic?

You know how you always want a slice of apple pie with as much crust as possible? Because you think the crust is the best part of the apple pie (guilty)? Then individual apple pies (lots of delicious crust!) are definitely for you! Individual apple pies are easy to make yourself, but you can also buy them at Lidl, and they are genuinely delicious!

79 cents—no joke

They are exactly the right size for one person and contain everything that makes an apple pie such a successful pastry for me. A crisp crust with that delicious buttery flavor, all the way around, a few raisins and fresh apple pieces. Not too much apple, not those huge chunks, but simply: fresh apple pieces. And for such a mini apple pie, you pay just 79 cents—there’s really no way you can bake one for less.

Apple pie toastie

If you do want to make an apple pie yourself, try adding cheese to your apple pie. It may sound strange, but according to some people, even a scoop of ice cream on your apple pie pales in comparison to cheddar—that’s how amazing it is. Would you rather have a quick, different take on apple pie? Then try making an apple pie toastie!
