What This TikToker Does to Ground Beef Will Scare You Senseless
Of all the bizarre things that go viral, this TikTok video really did send the internet into a panic. Because although there’s plenty of nonsense doing the rounds on the platform (alongside genuinely good tips, such as how to make these easy-peasy pesto rolls and the idea that lettuce water helps you sleep better, for example), this video really defies the imagination…
And not in a good way. No, people were mainly left dumbfounded and outraged to their very core by the insane tip this woman had apparently picked up in Home Economics (??):
Put it under the tap
Namely: wash your cooked ground beef. WHAT?? Sorry, there’s no other way to put it. This woman fries ground beef, drains it (IN THE SINK, WHICH YOU SHOULD ALSO NEVER DO), and then rinses it thoroughly in a colander under the running tap to remove ‘that disgusting, disgusting, nasty fat’. We didn’t know what we were seeing…

Better call the drain cleaners again
Back to that fat in the sink—don’t do it, unless you really enjoy handing over part of your salary to the drain-cleaning service every month. Pour it into a jar, let it cool and then throw it away, or simply drain your ground beef on sturdy kitchen paper towels.
Total bewilderment
Viewers of this video find it just as horrifying that this girl is now left with gross, dry (and wet at the same time), and above all tasteless ground beef. She then puts it back in the pan, but since she thought this was a good idea in the first place, there’s little confidence that things can still turn out well from here. The horror…
