10 reasons why you shouldn’t miss Nacht van de Wijn

Nacht van de Wijn

If you love wine and wine festivals, you’re in the right place this autumn. We recently wrote about ‘Vinhalla‘, the wine party hosted by Grapedistrict, and now we have another wonderful wine festival that will certainly make your wine-loving heart beat faster: Nacht van de Wijn.

Nacht van de Wijn will burst into life for the second time on Saturday 16 October at Central Studio’s in Utrecht. During this evening, you’ll get to know the flavours and characteristics of the well-known grape varieties, while also discovering new grapes from emerging wine regions. The most popular grape in the Netherlands will also be announced during Nacht van de Wijn (I’m betting on chardonnay, what about you?)

Ten reasons why you shouldn’t miss this wine event

  1. You can taste more than 250 wines from the best wine shops and importers in the Netherlands.
  2. The vast majority of these wines cost just one coin per tasting glass.
  3. Not a fan of chardonnay? Cast your vote for another grape as the most popular grape in the Netherlands; you can vote via Nacht van de Wijn.
  4. There are various masterclasses you can attend to expand your wine knowledge.
  5. Taste wines blind, test your sense of smell and get the chance to win various prizes.
  6. Discover organic, vegan and sustainable wines (and learn here exactly what vegan wines are).
  7. Let the winegrowers themselves draw you into the fascinating stories behind the wines.
  8. Drink and lunch at the highest level; a lunch will be organised on Saturday afternoon during which the winemaker from Maison Champy in Burgundy will pour his own wines for you. Discover the beautiful wines from Meursault and Pommard, among others, while enjoying a fantastic lunch (the last tickets for this are now on sale).
  9. Wine makes you happy and makes you want to dance; browse the huge vinyl collection, choose your record, hand it to the DJ and hit the dance floor!
  10. End the evening with a goodie bag packed full.

Utrechtse Vrijmibo

Fancy a whole weekend of partying? An official pre-party will be organised on Friday: De Utrechtse Vrijmibo. With an especially danceable line-up, delicious street food and a large wine bar.

If you haven’t managed to get a ticket for this evening (or these evenings) yet, buy them here.
