A peanut butter and jam sandwich? I couldn’t believe my eyes, but a friend from primary school thought it was the most normal thing in the world. It makes the peanut butter less sticky, and the jam a little less sweet. The peanut butter and jelly is a classic combination, but brace yourself for these disgusting combinations. Here we go: the nine most bizarre sandwiches.
Jam with Doritos
Sometimes savory and sweet are delicious together. Blue cheese with quince jelly, for example, or chicken with fries and apple sauce. Does that also apply to a sandwich with jam and Doritos? We’re still looking for someone willing to test it, because those volunteers are hard to find.
Nutella-pickle
A little pickle goes a long way, you’d think. A pickle in a slice of luncheon meat, one of those disgustingly delicious classics. Or pickles with nasi goreng. A pickle cheesecake already sounds a little less festive, and Nutella with pickle slices crosses the line by a mile.
Peanut butter-bacon
Anything with bacon has our warm attention. Take bacon jam: it sounds insane, but it’s mainly insanely delicious. This combination does raise a few eyebrows, though: crispy bacon with peanut butter? Uh, well, who knows.
Filet Americain with sprinkles
How do you come up with this: a sandwich with filet Americain and… sprinkles. Dark or milk chocolate, apparently it doesn’t matter; this combo came in as a tip at the editorial office. Haven’t tried it yet, thanks.
Chips sandwich
FavorFlav’s Laura admitted it honestly: a hollowed-out white bread roll filled with paprika-flavored chips was her ultimate lunch in secondary school. Luckily, she turned out fine.
Sprinkles with liver pâté
What a treat: your children are making breakfast in bed! Lukewarm tea, orange juice all over the kitchen counter, and just as you’re about to bite into the sandwich, your nose warns you just in time. It’s liver pâté with sprinkles! Creatively done, but preferably not.
Ham, cheese, mayo and Oreos
There are weirdos working at BuzzFeed too, apparently. One colleague there prefers a stacked sandwich with ham, cheese, mayonnaise (so far, so good) and Oreos for lunch. Disgusting.
Hot dogs with maple syrup
Another winner: a proper American sandwich, generously loaded with potato salad, frankfurters, crackers and maple syrup.
Brown bread with macaroni
Frying up leftover sauerkraut mash for the next day—who doesn’t? But frying up leftover macaroni with Spam and then putting it with ketchup on brown bread… no! What does work: a Bolognese grilled cheese; give it a try!
