Espresso Martini move over; this is the latest Martini hit

A Martini is the way to go if you enjoy drinking a refined, sophisticated cocktail. The clear drink, stirred (or shaken?), may well be the ultimate example of a classic yet effortlessly delicious cocktail. The latest trend? A vegetable Martini.

Although a Martini that tastes like vegetables sounds rather strange, it is genuinely a huge hit in many cocktail bars in London. They also call the drink a Veggie Martini, available with all kinds of vegetables. Do you like bruschetta? Then the tomato-garlic Martini might be for you. Prefer beetroot? They have that too. And yes, you can even drink one that tastes like a Greek salad.
Infused drink
But how? Because although the Martini may taste like a Greek salad, there isn’t a lettuce leaf or piece of tomato to be found in your glass. That’s because the vodka or gin used to make a Martini is infused with vegetables (and herbs) of your choice, such as cucumber, tomatoes, oregano and feta for the Greek salad Martini.
And so you can really put all the ingredients of your favorite vegetable dish into a bottle of vodka or gin, leave it overnight and use it to make your drink the next day. Now we just have to wait for the trend to blow over to the Netherlands. In the meantime, we’ll be getting started on an asparagus Martini. Cheers!
