Frog eyeball in your soup, frog butt with Nutella for breakfast – sound good? Then you’re ready for the new internet hit: frog bread. The flavor is nothing special, it’s just bread in the shape of a frog, but frog bread is wildly popular on Instagram and TikTok and kids absolutely love it.
The very first frog bread was probably baked in 2005 by the people behind The Fresh Loaf, an American website for artisan home bakers. The owner was making instructions for his bread-baking course, but was left with a quantity of dough he couldn’t use. What to do? His wife loves frogs, so he made frog bread. It enjoyed modest success, and friends and followers of his site started baking their own cheerful little frog loaves too. It wasn’t until this year that frog bread suddenly went absolutely everywhere. Why, exactly? Apparently, frog bread is very good for your mood. Whether the bread turns out well or not, you’ll laugh at it anyway, according to those with firsthand experience.

TikTok has become a continuous stream of food inspiration during these coronavirus times. Take that Dalgona coffee, for example, a wonderfully airy coffee mousse whipped up from a little water, lots of sugar and instant coffee. Genius, right? The mini pancakes you eat like cornflakes also came from TikTok. And I haven’t even mentioned the grilled cheese revolution and the only correct way to close your box of cornflakes.
