Genius: the frikandel wrap

Frikandelwrap

Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, known in mayonnaise circles as Eke Bosman, knows where to go for the best snacks. Whether it’s the highly praised loempidel or the best pizza in Amsterdam: Snackspert shows you the way. Today, that way leads to the Frisian village of Arum for the frikandel wrap.

If there’s one thing we’re proud of in our little country, it’s the frikandel. Even though you can get one a lot cheaper in one province than in another, the golden-brown sausage remains the most-ordered greasy snack at the snack bar. But you can also eat a frikandel in toastie form, on a Dutch döner sandwich or wrapped in a tortilla, as Snackspert did.

Genius: the frikandel wrap

The Netherlands has a number of things on the World Heritage list, but one is still missing: the frikandel wrap from Cafetaria It Skil in the Frisian village of Arum. Absolutely genius. How do you even come up with it? Is it delicious? Not the best ever, but eating it is an event in itself. Nicely filled with special sauce (although it was made with ketchup instead of curry—no one is perfect), but now comes the very best part: it also has a slice of aged cheese on top. A remarkable combination that’s a bit like Rivella: strange but tasty. It’s a wrap you’ll be telling your grandchildren about 44 years from now; the village of Arum should be proud of a snack bar like this. Keep the frikandel wrap famous. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ½
