If 2020 Were a Meme, Then…

For the last time: what an absolutely terrible year, that 2020. Even if you managed to slalom through the viruses in good health, you still had to deal with a lockdown of the hospitality industry, mandatory working from home, closed gyms, those stinky face masks and liters of sanitizing hand gel. What would be the best way to compare 2020 as a year?

If you’re still allowed to go for walks, drink cocktails at home, sometimes even stay in hotels and manage to do a bit of Zooming and hold Teams meetings in between, it’s not too bad—but not by much. Everyone loses heart from time to time. And then we can always rely on the funny photos and hilarious memes from Bored Panda. They compare the past year to a fortune cookie with an insult inside, an avocado with a huge pit, a beer consisting of nothing but foam and a Bloody Mary made with Cup a Soup and cheese from a spray can. We might as well laugh about it…
